quick quilt = not so quick
So, I wanted to have this quilt done for the guest bed in time for my in-laws to use it when they were here last week, but that didn't happen. Some unexpected problems delayed it... let's just say, don't put "tumble dry low" on a quilt insert if there is ANY chance of it melting into hard pieces and getting all over everything in the dryer (I'm looking at you, IKEA). "Line dry" would have saved me a bunch of time.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the quilt, Rachel! The B&W looks so classy. Definitely unexpected for a quilt, I'm so use to seeing colors. So sorry about the melting fiasco you mentioned.
Well its darling but unfortunate you had problems. That Ikea! Don't get me wrong, it can be great but it can also be a nightmare. I broke a jar in the store once and it splintered into thousands of shards and embedded itself in me like shrapnel. Not one person in the store would help me. The clerk (are there any?) wouldn't look at me and sorta ran away. I was bleeding and left a trail of blood. Granted I did break the jar but let me tell you I have never passed the Ikea store without remembering my bloody legs and feet (I had flip flops on). Oh well!
Gorgeous! I love the b+w scheme. I have some of those Ikea fabrics and I hope they weren't responsible for the melting! Now I'm nervous about washing them.
Thanks for letting me know it was the quilt insert and not the fabric itself that melted! That's a huge relief. (Although I'm sorry the quilt insert melted on you - what a bummer).
I really like the quilt. Fabulous!
simply lovely quilt, scary story, poor you.
I just randomly came across your blog and I love this quilt you made! I just made my first quilt and it was definitely more work than I thought it would be.
